With modern workplaces increasingly fostering collaboration and team-work, meetings have become a central mean to exchange information and to make decisions. In fact, effective meetings can have a positive impact on the communication and decision-making processes in an organization.
Even though it seems to be easier and more convenient than ever to organize a meeting – whether in person or on air – it doesn’t always end up being productive in terms of time and outcome. Participants’ complains usually relate to undefined objectives, long-lasting discussions and unclear outcomes.

Well, have you heard of walking? A walking meeting is simply a meeting that takes place during a walk instead of in an office or conference room where meetings are commonly held. While it is not necessarily the best format for gathering a team of ten people who need a whiteboard or screen, it can be beneficial for a two or three people conversation for the following reasons:
Research indicates that the act of walking opens up the free flow of ideas and leads to increase in creative thinking. In fact, our brains are more relaxed during walks due to the release of certain chemicals. It can also be argued that walking meetings break down barriers between colleagues. The conversation is more peer-to-peer oriented opposed to sitting across each other.
