Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sport

The Brief

In 2009 the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sport decided to establish a system focusing on maximising the impact on its athlete development programmes and improving the chances of Turkish athletes to perform at their peak at the Olympic Games. As such, the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sport sought advice on the development of a High Performance Plan aimed at preparing Turkish Athletes for the London 2012 Olympic Games and ultimately secure more Olympic medals for Turkey.
Our Response

To develop this High Performance Plan and initiating its implementation, we were engaged for an 18-month period. First, the state of operations with the National Olympic Committee of Turkey and all member sport federations were assessed through a written survey and meetings with key stakeholders. Following data-collection and analysis, a High Performance Plan was developed including a general plan and specific plans for targeted sports. Key components of the plans included: resource allocation strategies for national federations; Olympic Games preparation manuals for key staff; planning and implementation of training programmes for key personnel of target sports federations.

From the Client

“This team of experts came highly recommended and brought not only experience and expertise in performance planning, but also a rigorous approach to deliver a great plan.”

Mehmet Özal Sport Manager, Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sport
