Sport Event Denmark, a long term BCW Sports practice client, celebrated another success when Copenhagen was announced as the host of the 2021 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World.
The Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) selected Copenhagen in a unanimous decision after a strong presentation from the Danish delegation, which included Anders Jakobsen, President of the Danish Gymnastics Federation, Ditte Okholm-Naut, CEO of the Danish Gymnastics Federation, Lars Vallentin, Head of Major Events from Wonderful Copenhagen and Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark.
It is the latest sport event to be awarded to Copenhagen and follows other international key events in Denmark such as the 2018 Ice Hockey World Championship, 2018 Hempel Sailing World Championships and the Men’s Handball World Championship in 2019.
Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark, said,“It’s great the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will be added to our event track record in 2021. Artistic gymnastics is one of the most popular Olympic sports alongside athletics and swimming. Over the next three and a half years we will work hard to create a great and festive experience in Royal Arena.”
Tanya Heimlich-Ng Yuen, Director at BCW Sports practice, added, “The team did a great job in creating a very strong bid, showcasing the city’s passion and experience and highlighting the unique partnership model between the city, national government and the gymnastics federation. We are looking forward to what will be a fantastic sports year for Copenhagen in 2021.”
